We love dining out in the Great Lake State and enjoy everything from family-friendly restaurants to little pasty shops. But some restaurants are so spectacular that they need to be shared and put on your dining bucket list. You have to visit these seven must-visit restaurants in Michigan in 2023.
1. Tahquamenon Falls Brewery & Pub - Paradise
The only brewery located within the state park, Tahquamenon Falls Brewery & Pub serves hearty comfort food with refreshing craft beer. The atmosphere is charming, and you have an excellent view of the glorious state park right outside the windows.
2. Brick and Brine - Kalamazoo
A fine dining restaurant in Southwest Michigan that is totally unique, Brick and Brine’s interior promotes comfortable conversation with your colleagues, friends, and even the people at the table next to you. This is an open-air restaurant with sliding glass windows that open in the summer, and in the colder months, roaring fireplaces create a cozy mood. The food and cocktails are exquisite; this is a must-visit restaurant in downtown Kalamazoo.
3. Vivio’s - Indian River
This rustic Italian-American restaurant is inside a building that dates back to 1939. Locals love the mouthwatering pizza, pasta, and breadsticks.
4. Cash Only Supper Club – Detroit
The swankiest joint on the list, Cash Only Supper Club is an underground restaurant (literally) in Detroit that is 21+ and requires cocktail attire. The interior is a combination of Art Deco and Hollywood glam, and the delectable menu has a variety of vintage-inspired drinks.
5. Lagniappe A Cajun Creole Eatery & Voodoo Bar - Marquette
Speaking of underground restaurants, this popular Upper Peninsula cajun eatery is down in a basement but is a must-try. If you want to experience Louisiana cuisine without leaving Michigan, this is the place for you. Lagniappe creates made-from-scratch dishes that are packed with flavor.
6. Gatsby's Seafood & Steakhouse - Bay City
This retro speakeasy-style restaurant serves delectable seafood, steak, and pasta. Gatsby’s is located in historic downtown Bay City and is a casual dining experience you won’t want to miss.
7. Max’s South Seas Hideaway - Grand Rapids
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a restaurant in Michigan with a more impressive theme than Max’s South Seas Hideaway. The vintage tiki-themed eatery has retro cocktails, delicious food, and 200 tiki statues.
