Tower Hill is an accredited museum that houses an irreplaceable collection of plants in its 17 different gardens. The goal of this nonprofit is to enhance the use of and appreciation for horticulture and the natural world.
The indoor conservatories are packed during the winter months, providing natural solace to the New England area during the dark, snowy period October-May. The orangerie greenhouse blends the architecture of an 18th-century Neoclassical orangerie and a modern conservatory, primarily displaying subtropical plants.
In addition to the beautiful blooms, Tower Hill's packed events calendar consistently draws visitors. From yoga in the garden and forest bathing to live concerts and kid-friendly art making, there's something for everyone.
Night Lights is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Two of Tower Hill's gardens come alive in an unparalleled holiday light display. Amidst the glittering display, families can enjoy a themed scavenger hunt, model trains and hands-on library activities.
Education is a primary tenant of the gardens. The Stoddard Education and Visitors Center is the hub for learning opportunities, boasting a library of resources about horticulture, a 100-seat theater for lectures and information about the facility itself.
Tower Hill's history stretches back to 1842 when the Worcester County Horticultural Society was founded. The organization held many events and exhibitions geared towards educating the public about horticulture and went on to launch the Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in the 1980s.
Admission is $16 for adults, $11 for seniors, $6 for children ages 6-18 and free for children under five. For an extra $7, your dog can tag along for some incredibly scenic exercise!
