The Pilgrim Monument is a staggeringly tall tower in Provincetown. Now, obviously this isn’t the tallest structure in Massachusetts. But it /is/ the tallest granite tower in Massachusetts, not to mention the United States. Plus, we’re pretty sure there’s no skyscraper in the state with a better view than the Pilgrim Monument. Read on to see just why this place is so special.
The Pilgrim Monument is a sky-high granite tower in Provincetown.
Built in 1910, it’s about 252 feet tall and rises a full 350 feet about sea level.
If you’re thinking that translates to epic ocean views, you’d be right.
Lace up your sneakers and prepare for an invigorating trek to the top. But it won’t be as tough as you think.
Rather than steps, the tower is filled with sloping ramps that make the climb much easier.
Depending on how fast you walk, the climb will take you a few minutes. If you need to stop and catch your breath, you can spy stunning view through the tower’s lower windows.
Once you get to the top, the land and sea will stretch out around you. It's truly a breathtaking sight.
Admission to the tower is $14 for adults and $6 for kids. Children under four are free.
Once you’re done scaling the tower and make your way back down, check out the Pilgrim Monument Museum for a peek into the tower’s history.
This is the perfect spring or summer weekend activity. Don’t miss out this year!
