Lobster rolls are one of Massachusetts’ most beloved summer treats. This small town church on Cape Cod has been serving them up with a side of community spirit since the 1950s, and they’re actually some of the tastiest and cheapest rolls around. Here’s how to snag one for yourself.
The Federated Church of Hyannis has been holding Lobster Roll Luncheons since the 1950s. And it’s easy to see why this is one of the most beloved local traditions ever.
The luncheons are held between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Friday during the summer. You don’t have to be a member of the church or religious at all to stop by.
Each diner will get a homemade lobster roll heaped with meat, as well as chips, pickles, a handmade dessert (or a slice of juicy watermelon), and a drink. These lobster rolls are known for being shockingly tender and tasty.
So much will this feast run you? Sounds incredible, but the whole meal is just $13. Yup, roll, extras, and drink included.
If you’re not into lobster, you can still head on down and grab a chicken salad or egg salad sandwich, hot dog, or chicken caesar salad. Prices for non-lobster meals start at just $5.
You can even have your order ready to take away by calling the church office ahead of time at (508) 775-0298. There’s really no downside here.
The church is located right on scenic Main Street in downtown Hyannis, so you can settle in for a fun community lunch or grab your roll to go and walk down to the harbor to take in the views. Either way, you’re sure to be back next week!
