One of the best things about living in Massachusetts is being able to experience all of the wonderful festive activities that take place in the autumn months. My favorite events have now become annual family traditions, apple picking, corn mazes, and fall festivals are things that I look forward to all year round. However, my favorite fall activity is my family's autumn trip to the local pumpkin patch!
There are so many fantastic farms located throughout the state where I could buy a pumpkin, but this year I plan to go really big with my fall display. I am looking for a variety of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. That’s why I am planning a trip to the pumpkin patch at Parlee Farms in Tyngsbourough. This family-run farm is the perfect place to find a pumpkin and enjoy a fun-filled fall day.
On a visit to Parlee Farms, everyone will find a perfect pumpkin!
Each year, the farm produces over 40,000 pumpkins that grow on over 13 acres of land. That’s a whole lot of pumpkins! The hardest part will be choosing which one to take home!
You will be able to pick from pumpkins of all sizes, shades, and shapes.
A large 25-pound pumpkin is the perfect size for carving a scary jack-o-lantern. Smaller pumpkins can be used as decorations to make a festive and colorful porch display.
But the fun doesn’t end in the pumpkin patch. Parlee Farms also has some fantastic apple picking.
Hop aboard a hayride and head out to the orchard where you can pick several varieties of delicious apples that are perfect for cooking or eating down to the core. The farm typically grows over 20 varieties.
Fall on the farm is also the time for cut-your-own flowers. Make up a beautiful fall bouquet full of colorful dahlias, zinnias, and gladiolus.
Pro tip: Bring your own bucket and receive a discount on cut-your-own flowers!
The sunflower field at Parlee Farms is absolutely gorgeous.
It makes a beautiful backdrop for family photos. Please note that the farm has specific guidelines for professional photo shoots.
When you are finished with all of the picking, you will probably want to grab a bite to eat. The farm makes lots of great food including bakery treats, lunch offerings, ice cream, and delicious roasted corn.
