Yankee Magazine has released its annual fall foliage report and this season is shaping up to be the most colorful and vibrant autumn in quite a while.

Though fall in New England is always spectacular, there are usually some factors that limit how bright those turning leaves get.

Drought and gypsy moth caterpillars have actually interfered with the foliage show the past few years. Even summer temperatures and rainfall can influence how intense foliage gets in the fall.

However, foliage expert Jim Salge has stated that this year’s conditions are nearly perfect.

Summer weather has been stable and rainfall has been consistent, meaning that normal fall colors will likely be turned up to amazing levels.
