Most People Don’t Know These 14 Movies Were Filmed In Maryland
Hollywood may be on the other side of the country but sometimes it comes to us. From Baltimore to the eastern shore, there are several places in Maryland that have actually been in a major motion picture. Listed below are 14 movies filmed in Maryland.
1) The Blair Witch Project
Okay, so a lot of people know about this one. The Blair Witch Project was filmed and takes place in Burkittsville. Other locations included in filming were Rockville, Wheaton, and Gaithersburg, among others.
Hairspray (the 1988 version) was filmed in several parts of Baltimore. Pictured here is the Hairspray cement block, located at The Senator Theatre.
3) Wedding Crashers
This funny film was shot in DC and the eastern shore. This includes filming at the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michael's.
Part of this movie took place at the Enchanted Forest Park in Ellicott City which sadly, no longer stands. Other notable locations of filming were in Hampden, Reisterstown, Jessup, and Sykesville.
5) Runaway Bride
Most of the movie production for this Julia Roberts film took place in Berlin, including this Main Street tea shop.
The driving school scene in Borat was filmed in Perry Hall.
7) The Social Network
A few of the college scenes in this movie were shot at the Johns Hopkins University campus in Baltimore.
8) Failure To Launch
Several locations in this romantic comedy were filmed in Maryland. This includes Baltimore, Oxford, St. Michael's, and Annapolis.
9) National Treasure: Book of Secrets

10) Live Free or Die Hard AND Die Hard With A Vengeance
Parts of Live Free or Die Hard were filmed in Baltimore, including on East Lexington St. and North Calvert St. Parts of Die Hard With A Vengeance were filmed in Jessup.
11) Ladder 49
This building at the Baltimore waterfront was used for several shots of the firefighter movie, along with a few locations in Annapolis.
12) Major League II
Scenes of this movie were filmed at Camden Yards, which was disguised to look like Cleveland Stadium. In the film, the Orioles scoreboard reads "Welcome to Cleveland Stadium."
13) He's Just Not That Into You
This romantic comedy took place in, and was mostly filmed in Baltimore.
14) St. Elmo's Fire
This coming-of-age film was shot at University of Maryland College Park and several spots in DC.
