Who doesn't love a beautiful beach, especially when summer rolls around? The sand, the waves, the crisp air... Of course, when it comes to Maryland's best beaches, Ocean City is usually the first that comes to mind. But the Old Line State has many more sandy spots, including one particularly dreamy state park. When you're seeking a day in the sand and sun (and water), head to Janes Island State Park! This remote, underrated Maryland state park just might become your new favorite warm-weather destination.
The park is tucked away on the edge of Crisfield, Maryland - a.k.a. the little community known as the Blue Crab Capital of the World.
We love the amazing seafood restaurants you can find in this town, along with one of the best state parks in Maryland.
After your meal (we have some epic spots to choose from!), head on over to Janes Island State Park to burn off those calories and rest your head for the night.
The picturesque park has plenty of campsites where you can pitch your tent and then have fun exploring.
Prepare yourselves for breathtaking sights.
Because of its location on Chesapeake Bay, this gorgeous state park has plenty of waterfront views.
Enjoy the white sand beaches that often have driftwood and other natural finds. Keep your eyes peeled for treasures.
The many water trails are a dream for kayakers.
Bring your own kayak or rent one from the park - whichever option you choose, you're in for a multitude of scenic adventures.
Check out the shallow parts of the water and you'll likely find blue crabs, too!
Other activities here include fishing, swimming, and bird watching, and there are several picnic spots or even pavilions to enjoy.
While day trips here are great, there's nothing like staying the night so that you can watch the sun go down in the evening.
The views just before dusk are phenomenal.
Be sure to bring a camera to photograph the sights.
And another day brings more promised beauty for floating, kayaking, camping, or checking out the beaches: Janes Island State Park offers a little bit of everything.
