1. Deep Creek Lake

Maryland's largest lake has plenty to explore. Take to the water or explore all of the nearby hiking trails and attractions. This place is absolutely beautiful during autumn.

2. C & O Canal

Stretching all the way from DC to Cumberland, there's plenty to see along the C & O Canal towpath. Although you may have visited this historic spot during a fieldtrip back in school, this place is worth revisiting.

3. Swallow Falls State Park

Maryland's most impressive waterfalls are found here and the hike between the two is scenic. Head here each season to see just how different this place looks year-round.

4. Ocean City

Most Marylanders have visited Ocean City and will continue to for years to come. Not only does it offer the ocean, but there are a ton of things to do as well, from arcades to restaurants.

5. Assateague Island

This place is known for the wild horses that roam, but you can also camp here, making for an unforgettable experience. The uninterrupted nighttime view of the stars will leave you in awe.

6. Billy Goat Trail

If you're up for a bit of a challenge, then hike Billy Goat's Trail A. This spot has one of the most gorgeous and rocky views of the Potomac River.

7. Patapsco Valley State Park

Spanning both Howard and Baltimore County, Patapsco Valley State Park is incredibly diverse. It has swinging bridges, a waterfall, ruins, tunnels, and more.

8. Maryland Heights Trail

Located across from Harpers Ferry, this Maryland trail will give you an epic overlook view. The climb is moderate, and worth it.

9. Calvert Cliffs State Park

Hike the 1.8 mile trail to these natural clay cliffs and enjoy the view. You can also search for shark teeth here. Good luck!

10. Wisp Mountain Coaster

This unique ride at Wisp Resort in Western Maryland is unforgettable. It twists and turns around the hillside, providing great sights along the way.

11. Western Maryland Scenic Railroad

Autumn is the best time to hop aboard a train at Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. The surrounding foliage will blow you away.

12. Antietam National Batlefield

This giant battlefield is filled with historic bridges, monuments, buildings, and more. Spend the day strolling and be sure to bring a camera.

13. Mallows Bay

At Mallows Bay, you can kayak over old ship ruins. This spot is great for a summer adventure on the water.
