The World’s Best Doughnut Is Made Daily Inside This Humble Little Maine Store
Maybe it’s because our residents are so sweet, or maybe it’s because we’ve got a wicked sweet tooth. Whatever the reason, Maine’s got plenty of options for some of the best baked goods in the country. While we would be happy to visit any of them on any day, this little spot in Wells has our hearts. Calling itself a family restaurant, they serve up the best doughnut in Maine and maybe even the world!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. But, in 1955, Nana and her son-in-law Herb Brooks, rebuilt Congdon’s where you'll find it today. Whie the menu expanded to include things like fried seafood on the takeout menu, doughnuts still took center stage.
The latest addition came in 1984 when the Pancake Room Restaurant was added to the building.
