Maine’s Very First Diner Has Literally Been Around Forever
We could write novels about the food in Maine. From seafood to BBQ to sweet treats and sandwiches, if you’re hungry you better hope you’re in Maine! While the spring always has us excited for the upcoming onslaught of fresh seafood, we can’t help but get back to our roots a bit when we think about this diner. It’s got tons of history and it serves up some great food!
The Waco Diner in Eastport has been in the same location since 1924, making it well over 80 years old!
And, in those years it's only grown in charm. You can tell by the locals and folks from away who clamor to enjoy the food and good company for which this eatery has become known.
And, while most restaurants feature a lobster roll only this lobster-crazy spot features a lobster roll, a whole Maine lobster, the "Lazy Man’s Lobster" sautéed in butter with a hint of sherry and the lobster club which comes with lobster, bacon and tomato.
The Waco Diner is located at 47 Water St., Eastport, Maine. They’re open every day from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit their website or check them out on Facebook. You can reach them on 207-853-9226.

Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
