Despite being on the Gulf Coast, Louisiana doesn’t have the endless miles of beaches that our Alabama or Florida neighbors are known for. But don’t be fooled, Louisiana does have some beautiful beaches that are perfect for an adventure on a warm day. When you’re looking for a bit of solitude and fun in the sun, a trip to this underrated sandy beach in Louisiana is just the ticket.
Hiding in the tiny town of Homer, Lake Claiborne State Park is a little slice of paradise that’s just waiting to be explored.
The 643-acre state park offers something for everyone. Nature lovers will enjoy traversing through the endless miles of hiking trails and fisherman will love casting their line from the dock. The park is also home to two of the top ranking disc golf courses in the state.
For anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet, Lake Claiborne State Park is exactly where you need to be.
One of the park’s main attractions is the beach.
Situated on an inlet of the lake and safe from boaters, the beach is the perfect spot for a summer day. Benches and picnic tables aren’t too far away, and the treeline provides some much needed shade on those hot summer days.
For a truly relaxing experience, bring a raft and carelessly float on the beautiful lake, taking in the mesmerizing scenery.
You’ll quickly fall in love with this beautiful beach. You may even want to make a weekend out of it, which is great, because the park has several lakeside cabins available for rent. Primitive camping is also available, if you prefer to rough it.
Lake Claiborne State Park is open seven days a week, so grab some friends and make plans before summer ends.
The park is open from 6 a.m. till 9 p.m. during the week and until 10 p.m. on the weekends.
Address: 225 State Park Road, Homer, LA, 71040
