Looking for a unique hike in Louisiana? The J.C. “Sonny” Gilbert Wildlife Management Area offers over 7,500 acres to explore, and some of the most unique hiking trails in Louisiana. These trails are a far departure from the boardwalk swamp trails that are so prevalent in the southern part of the state, in fact, they’re quite the opposite! This particular trail will lead you straight to a waterfall, but not just any waterfall, the tallest waterfall in Louisiana!

Here, you’ll find terrain that’s not what you’d normally think about when it comes to Louisiana hiking trails. The landscape is rugged with high ridges with drop-offs and elevations that range from 35-245 feet.
The Rock Falls Trail is about a mile long and will take you through the mixed pine and upland hardwood forest.
