Established in 1978, the Acadiana Park Nature Station is a picture perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Located in Lafayette, the Nature Station is dedicated not only to preserving the natural habitats for the wildlife in the area, but also to teach others about the importance of maintaining our natural surroundings.
Visitors can explore six miles of hiking trails here.
The Acadiana Park Nature Station encompasses 150 acres, and the boardwalk and gravel trails will take you through the wooded area.
Along the way, you’ll come across beautiful views of the Dan Deballion Canal and Francois Coulee waterway.
Most of the trails are less than a mile, so you can mix and match depending on your day.

From owls to insects, hundreds of different species call the area home.
More than 150 species of birds have been spotted in the area, making the nature station a birdwatcher’s paradise.
The park also has several programs and activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

On the last Saturday of each month, you can join up for a night hike to explore the nocturnal life at the Nature Station.
All ages are welcome and the experience only costs $2.06 per person.
