Halloween is just a few days away, do you have your costume picked out? If not, don't worry. Sometimes the best costumes are the ones you make yourself - and they're often the most clever, too. If you're still looking for some Halloween inspiration, check out some of these Halloween costumes that only Louisianians could pull off.
Most of these costumes can be easily DIY-modified, and we bet if you wandered around your house, you'd find all the things needed to make your very own Louisiana-inspired costume!
1. Tabasco sauce & an oyster
This one true pair is so Louisiana, you'll definitely win any costume award with these clever outfits.
2. A penalty flag
If you're a Saints fan, this easy costume pulls together with a black shirt, some black pants, some cut-up fabric, and some yellow tape. Easy as one, two, three!
3. A box of Zatarain's
Spice it up with Zatarain's! If you have a leftover Amazon box lying around and some paint, you're ready to create one hilarious costume.
4. A beignet and cup of coffee
Grab a buddy and join forces with this iconic New Orleans treat. If you don't have any spare fabric lying around, we bet you could achieve a similar effect by sewing together a few towels and throwing some paint on it. For the coffee, a few pieces of poster board and some brown paint will have you looking like Cafe du Monde in no time.
5. A New Orleans Water Meter
If you're handy with a paintbrush, you could paint on a poster board and wear it as an A-frame sign, but for a truly last-minute costume, you could always turn to your trusty printer.
6. A crawfish boil
Adding the pot is an extra special touch, but your little one will still be the cutest mudbug without the prop. (Please do not cook your kid.)
7. A gator (dog edition)
Your four-legged friend doesn't need to be left out on the fun! A few pieces of colored felt will turn your pup into the most adorable gator you've ever seen.
8. A gator (baby edition)
No pup? No problem - the same costume can work on anyone, including kids! If you're not good with a sewing machine, you can always turn to felt to piece this costume together.
9. The French Quarter
Grab some markers and a few sheets of paper and you're halfway to a super-fun group costume. Or, make it even more special by doing *your* own neighborhood!
Bonus points if you go as the red light camera in the background!
10. The Rougarou
Up the scare factor this Halloween by going as this infamous swamp creature. This costume is pretty much a walking junk drawer of all your craft supplies, so get to gluing and you'll have a Rougarific costume in no time!
