Guillory’s Deli and Tamales in Metairie, Louisiana, serves some of the best tamales and a variety of delicious deli items since 1972.
Zwolle, Louisiana tends to get all the glory when it comes to tamales, and that’s fair! They host the annual Tamale Fiesta which draws in huge crowds of hungry folks around the Toledo Bend area. If you just can’t wait until October to get your hands on a delicious tamale, then make your way over to this hidden gem in Metairie that’s serving up some of the best tamales in Louisiana.
Guillory’s Deli and Tamales has been around since 1972.
Originally, it opened as a small little grocery store and meat market for the neighborhood.
At some point, a customer requested if they could make a ham sandwich and as they say, the rest is history.
Since then, Guillory’s went full-send on the deli, slowly building up a menu of must-have plate lunches, po’boys, and seafood platters.
The menu truly does offer a little bit of everything, plus daily hot plate lunches, so there’s something new to look forward to every day.
They were also one of the first restaurants in the area to offer Krispy Krunchy Chicken.
They first put it on the menu back in 2002 and over a decade later, it’s still finger-licking good.
In 1998, Guillory’s introduced what would become one of their biggest-selling items: the tamale.
12 come to an order, and these homemade tamales are incredible!
Get them as a starter for the table or go all-in on a dozen tamales all for yourself. You can also get a tamale po’boy if you’re feeling adventurous!
Speaking of po'boys, the po'boys at Guillory's are massive.
All the usual suspects make an appearance, including the OG that started it all: the ham sandwich.
Guillory's is easily worth a road trip, so gas up the car and head on over. Visit Guillory's website for more information, and be sure to follow Guillory's on Facebook so you never miss out on the special of the day.
