Welcome to Longleaf Vista Interpretive Trail, an area of Kisatchie National Forest that is full of natural beauty and also a great place to reconnect with nature for a little while.
The trail covers 1.4 miles of beautiful forested scenery, a loop that doesn't have much elevation gain, but is a little tricky to traverse.
It's rated as a moderate level trail due to the rockier areas you'll need to traverse to complete it.
Along the trail, you'll find all sorts of flora and fauna, and during the right season, the trail is great for nature trips or bird watching.
The longleaf pine trees are stunning all year round, and around the rock formations, the scenery is picture-perfect.
Cresting high ridges after taking the stone stairway, you'll find beautiful overlooks hidden in a few places.
Gazing down at the trees below is beautiful in any season, and a great reason to get outside.
The overlooks are beautiful, and the lovely forest here is always a great display to see. Who could want more when it's something so special?
Make sure to always bring every bit of scrap food or wrapper with you on your way around. Happy hiking!
