This Easy Hike Proves That Kentucky Is Home To Unrivaled Beauty
The best way to appreciate Kentucky’s natural beauty is to get outdoors and hike in it! Here’s an easy trail that’s surrounded by trees and features a stunning natural arch.
The Natural Arch Loop Trail is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
To find this area, take US-27 to KY-927, then follow the signs for about two miles until you reach the Scenic Arch area.
The first portion of this trail is ADA-accessible. It's paved and fairly flat.
You'll quickly come to an overlook where you'll find some informative signs and a spectacular view of the arch.
Make sure you've got your camera for this hike!
On the east side of the overlook area, you'll find the trailhead for Natural Arch Loop Trail #510. The trail is just under six miles long, and easy going most of the way.
The trail meanders through the woods...
...along a creek...
...and past tons of beautiful wildflowers and plants.
The arch is absolutely stunning up close. It's about 45 feet high and nearly 100 feet wide.
Climb the stairs to hike right underneath the arch. Make sure to stay on the designated path.
You'll climb just 787 feet in elevation along the way, so this hike is perfect for most explorers.
