It’s well known that Kentucky’s State Park system is incredible and arguably the best in the entire country. The resort parks, especially, allow us to stay comfortably while still enjoying the natural beauty Kentucky has to offer. The very first state park in our state also happens to be one of the most stunning. Pine Mountain State Resort Park is a slice of Kentucky heaven and you’ll definitely want to pay it a visit.
Located near the southern border of Kentucky, Pine Mountain State Resort Park was originally established in 1924.
As Kentucky's first state park, it was first named Cumberland State Park, but later changed in 1938 due to the addition of Cumberland Falls State Park. The community was very passionate about preserving this beautiful area of Kentucky, and we are incredibly lucky it continues to be a treasured place today.
Pine Mountain is known for its incredible views, but there is much more to love about this historic park.
You'll feel the charm and history when you enter the main part of the lodge and be sure to dine at Mountain View Restaurant that offers incredible vistas and food. The lodge has 30 guest rooms, each with their own private patio or balcony to enjoy the mountain views. You can also choose to stay in a secluded log cabin or rustic cottage.
The resort and surrounding area provide many opportunities for fun and adventure.
There are several hiking trails throughout the park, ranging from easy to strenuous. Popular hikes include the Rock Hotel Trail and the Chained Rock Trail, both of which will take you through some of the most beautiful terrain in our state.
