Berea is a charming town in Madison County that is most well-known for its arts and crafts. In fact, it is called the "Folk Arts and Craft Capital of Kentucky." The town is home to Berea College, a liberal arts work college. Even though Berea is chock full of charm and art, you may not realize that this town also has some of the best hiking in the state. This spring, be sure to take a trip here to hike the Berea Pinnacles. You will be absolutely blown away by the scenery.
The trailhead for the Pinnacles is located off of Highway 21, only about five minutes away from the Berea College Campus.
The Pinnacles are located within the Berea College Forest, which is one of the oldest managed private forests in the country.
The most popular route to take is a 6.6-mile loop that leads to breathtaking views. Yes, it is strenuous and your legs will definitely get quite the workout, but the lookouts at the top are worth the climb.
You will see this sign at the trailhead, which will help you decide which way you want to go.
There are options of varying lengths, so you can hike as much or as little as you want that day.
You will be rewarded with the following amazing views: East Pinnacle, West Pinnacle, Eagle's Nest, Buzzard's Roost, Devil's Kitchen, and Indian Fort Lookout.

Native American tribes used to inhabit this land, and archaeologists have found a lot of evidence of their lives in this forest, including arrow heads, cave art, and even a series of underground tunnels.
The trails are open year round, and offer the most gorgeous views in central Kentucky. People come from as far away as Louisville, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis just to hike to the top of the Berea Pinnacles.
