Most People Don’t Know There’s A Little Golden Gate Bridge In Kansas
If you’re looking for big tourist attractions in Kansas, odds are you don’t think of Mulvane. However, just a little west of the town sits a man’s house and his very own Golden Gate bridge. Not everyone can say they have a little Golden Gate bridge, but Larry Richardson is one of a kind. Let’s find out more about this functional work of art, shall we?
Larry and Barbara Richardson had been fascinated by the Golden Gate bridge for years and had always wanted to see it up close. Well, it turns out that building one in their backyard is the next best thing.

They used materials adding up to 97.5 tons of hand-mixed concrete, cables from Boeing's salvage, and a whole lot of work. Afterwards, however, the media took notice and wanted to know the story behind this amazing bridge.
And here's the view from their bedroom window, where the bridge is in full view. It's a constant reminder of Larry's father, who helped him build the bridge, and will always be remembered as long as it's standing.
Isn't this amazing? It's a testament to what some recycled materials and a little innovation can create.
This video by YouTube user Larry Hatteburg really highlights the dream they had and what you can achieve with a little bit of money and a dream. If you’re wanting to check out the bridge yourself, I’d recommend getting in touch with Larry Richardson, since it’s on his private property.
