We love the Sunflower State, but it’s not really known for its beaches or bodies of water – plains and farmland, sure, or the gently rolling Flint Hills… we’ve even got swamps in Kansas! We’re not really thought of as a particularly beachy state, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great coastal cities in Kansas. One of our favorites is Topeka – as the capital of the state and one of the larger cities within Kansas, it’s a place that most Kansans are familiar with, but it often escapes notice that it is, in fact, a coastal city. There are so many things to do in Topeka, Kansas, as it’s home to Lake Shawnee – one of the most-visited destinations in Kansas – and it’s a beautiful place with plenty of other attractions.
