Sadly, there are not many covered bridges left in Kansas. As of the time of this writing, there’s only one traditional covered bridge left in the Sunflower State; there are other bridges, but none meet the definition of a traditional covered bridge.

Since there aren’t very many, it’ll be easy to visit all the Kansas covered bridges you can. Some bridges in Kansas worth checking out include:  

  • Stranger Creek Bridge – This is the only remaining traditional covered bridge left in Kansas. Its construction began around 1859 and it was restored in the late 1940s.  
  • Ted Ensley Gardens Bridge – This covered bridge is a footbridge located in the gardens near Topeka. At 60 feet long, it’s a delight to walk through.  
  • Capitol Bridge – This one doesn’t cross a body of water, but it’s still a bridge in Kansas, isn’t it? While in Topeka, check it out.  
  • Melvin Jones Bridge – This bridge was built in the early 1970s, making it relatively “young”.
