This Secluded Waterfront Restaurant In Iowa Is One Of The Most Magical Places You’ll Ever Eat

One neat thing about Iowa is that we love to tell our state’s stories, even in our restaurants. We’re proud of our industrial past and our farming industry history, and we aren’t afraid to show it off! One place where you can experience Iowa’s history, scenery, and culinary traditions all at once is the Iowa River Power Restaurant, just north of Iowa City in Coralville.

In the early 1900s, the Coralville Generating Plant was a big source of power for nearby Iowa City.

The plant was decommissioned in the late 1960s, and in 1977 Iowa River Power Company restaurant opened in the historic, renovated power plant.
