Iowa has a lot of burgers, and some of them are found in the most unexpected places. That's definitely the case for the burgers at Rides Bar & Grill. This unique restaurant in Fort Dodge, Iowa occupies a low-slung, nondescript building, and looks more like a dive bar inside. It's anything but a dive, though - it's gaining a cult following for its delicious burgers and fries, quirky theming, and celebration of everything relating to cars and motorcycles. How far does it take this theme? The burgers and most other menu items are named after famous vehicles! It's no wonder so many people are taking the drive to Fort Dodge to see what all the fuss is about - and discovering that Rides Bar & Grill is the epitome of an Iowa hidden gem.
Rides Bar & Grill is the ultimate Fort Dodge hidden gem - it looks more like a bikers' clubhouse than anything.
And that's what it is - but it's the friendliest clubhouse in town! You'll find pool tables, darts, and even arcade games.
Everything here is themed around vehicles - with vintage bikes being part of the decor.
When we say everything, we mean everything - including the menu. Mozzarella sticks are called "spark plugs" and cheddar nuggets are "lug nuts". The signature app is the "Burn Out Pit", a massive pile of fries topped with bacon, onion, ham, chili, and cheese.
The theme continues with the massive burgers, which are named after vehicles of the past and present.
This egg-topped beast is called the Studebaker, and is one of the restaurant's signature items.
Of course, this is Iowa, so there's a massive pork tenderloin sandwich. Here, they call it the Lowrider!
Live music is common, so make sure to check the the schedule for upcoming performances before you go.
