12 Reasons Why Fall Is The Best Season In Iowa

Fall in Iowa is short. It seems like it’s burning hot all summer, absolute heaven for about two weeks, then it’s snowing the rest of the year. Because fall is so short, yet so wonderful, it’s long been a favorite season for many Iowans. Understandably so, it’s the best! And here are 12 reasons why…

1. The colorful leaves make the bright blue autumn sky seem even brighter.

2. And the weather is that perfect combination of warm sun and crisp, cool breeze.

3. Fall means football season, and football season means tailgating.

4. The kids are (finally) back in school; not that we don't miss them!

5. And for all the hunters in Iowa, fall brings the long-awaited hunting season.

6. And the best fresh food from comes from the autumn farmers markets.

7. The new season also brings lots of fun, like corn mazes. You can find a really great maze at Pumpkinville in Mitchellville.

8. Or hayrides. The Waterhawks Haunted Hayride in Evansdale is one to check out.

9. And apple picking. Center Grove Orchard in Cambridge is simply amazing, and a must visit.

10. And don't forget about the annual trip to the pumpkin patch! Pumpkinland in Orange City is a great place to go.

11. Plus, there's Oktoberfest in Amana, which is the next best thing to Oktoberfest in Germany.

12. And even though it goes by way too quickly, there's an undeniable magic in an Iowa autumn.
