10 Places In Iowa Where You Can Get The Most Mouth-Watering Pie

Discover ten must-visit spots in Iowa for mouth-watering pies, each offering unique flavors and experiences.

There's nothing that hits the spot quite like a good piece of pie. Here in Iowa, we are lucky enough to have countless restaurants that serve up a mouth-watering piece of pie. If you're looking for a scrumptious slice, check out one of these 10 spots in Iowa:

1. Crouse Café, Indianola

Winner of the "Best Slice" award in 2015, Crouse Cafe's cherry pie is arguably the best in Iowa. In fact, their pie even made the Des Moines Register's list of "100 Things to Eat Before You Die."

2. Kathy's Pies, Cedar Rapids

Kathy's Pies is another spot that serves up one of the best slices of pie in Iowa. A lot of the pies are sold to wholesale accounts, but there is also a bakery open six days a week, where people can stop in and pick up a hot, freshly baked pie.

3. O'Farrell Sisters, Okoboji

If you love lemon meringue pie, there is no other place to go than O'Farrell Sisters in Okoboji. But don't worry, they have plenty of flavors so everyone can find a favorite here.

4. Coffee Cup Café, Sully

The Coffee Cup Cafe has a pretty strong reputation in the pie world. Their coconut cream pie was featured by NPR's "Pies to Try," USA Today's "Top 10 Places in the U.S. for Pie" and the Des Moines Register's "100 Places to Eat Before You Die." But that's not all - Lance Armstrong fueled up with this delicious pie during his RAGBRAI ride.

5. Country Junction, Dyersville

Country Junction is a perfect place to get your Iowa soul food - and that includes pie. A particularly delicious choice is their Sour Cream and Raisin pie, with a creamy custard base, juicy raisins and a meringue topping.

6. Cronk's Café, Denison

Editor's Note: Cronk's Cafe has permanently closed.

While you're out for a scenic drive on the historic Lincoln Highway, be sure to stop for lunch at Cronk's Cafe. Top off your meal with one of their delicious pies - their chocolate cream is absolutely delicious.

7. Ox Yoke Inn, Amana

If you're in the mood for some traditional German fare, head on over to the Ox Yoke Inn. But make sure to save room for dessert - a delicious slice of rhubarb streusel pie!

8. Picket Fence Café, Guttenberg

Tucked inside a meat market, the Picket Fence Cafe serves up some pretty delicious pies. Their triple fruit pie, made with blueberries, raspberries and rhubarb, is a must-try.

9. The Sanctuary Restaurant, Shenandoah

Located in a century-old church in Shenandoah, the Sanctuary serves up some pies that are better than even the church basement ladies could make. Their peanut butter chocolate pie is especially tasty.

10. Hamburg Inn No. 2, Iowa City

A hot spot for presidential candidates visiting Iowa, Hamburg Inn has been visited by everyone from Ronald Reagan to Bill Clinton to Barack Obama. Want to know why they keep coming back? Well, if we had to guess, we would say it's the mouth-watering, decadent pie shakes - which Hamburg Inn is famous for. Personally, we'd recommend the Chocolate Bourban Pecan Pie shake. It's not your typical slice of pie, but it might just become a new favorite.

With so much good pie, it's impossible to pick the best. What are some of your personal favorites? Share them with us in the comments section!
