Luckily for Indiana residents, the state is practically covered with quaint and charming drive-in restaurant options, but is there any as good as The Port Drive-In in Chesterton?
This Indiana gem is totally charming, bringing visitors root beer and hot dogs right to their cars since 1953. It’s had several names since it first opened — Studman’s, The Snack Shack — but what’s never changed is the food quality and excellent customer service. Well, except now there are over 100 food items on the menu, so those who aren’t in the mood for a half-pound burger, a heap of mac and cheese, or a classic hot dog can opt for fresh salads or something a little lighter.
Oh, and don’t worry — there are picnic tables and an indoor eating area if you aren’t actually in the mood to snack in your car.
