Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Let’s be real for a second here: Indiana is absolutely beautiful no matter what time of year it is, but there’s something about autumn that’s just outrageous. There’s something about every single tree and shrub being aflame with brilliant color that we’re just enormous suckers for, and we’ve found the perfect way to really, really soak it all in this year: how about a delightful, family-friendly fall foliage train ride in Indiana? The Nickel Plate Express offers several fall-color-themed excursions, and you might just want to try them all! Check it out!
The train departs from Forest Park, in Noblesville, several times a day, and for multiple journeys.
There are family-friendly adventures, and there are adults-only adventures - pick and choose which ones you do based on your needs (and a little self-care).
When it comes to autumn excursions, you can take your pick(s) from six options.
There's the Oktoberfest Dinner Express, in which riders will dash through autumn splendor while enjoying drinks and a four-course meal from Indy German powerhouse brewery and restaurant The Rathskeller. This excursion is for guests 21 years and older.

There's the Fall Dinner Express, in which guests enjoy a delicious, chef-prepared dinner while whisking through fall color in its prime.
Other options include Trick Or Treat On The Rails, the Superhero Express, and the Haunted Express. Every one of them has about a million excellent reasons to check them out, and there are bunches of them, so you best get planning ASAP!
Oh, and calling all Potterheads: there's also a Wizard Express train that goes - you guessed it - straight to Hogwarts.
...okay, maybe not literally, but it's an experience for Harry Potter fans of all ages (from kids to adult kids). Experience the amazingness of Indiana autumn on any one of - or all of - these delightful rail adventures.
Of course, should you fall in love with the experience of riding on a train, there are plenty of other excursions ongoing on the Nickel Plate Express all year.
Of course, the Nickel Plate Express isn’t the only fall foliage train ride in Indiana – if you enjoy this one, you’ll also love these three train rides in Indiana, too.
