Few Hoosiers know that there’s an old stone castle in Fort Wayne, Indiana that is full of incredible art. If you love history, culture, and creativity, you’ll want to visit this antique gallery. More than 100 years old, this castle is a maze of vintage decor and outstanding paintings. Check it out:
Castle Gallery Fine Art in northeast Indiana is a little-known gem that is full of history and artwork. It was built in 1905 as a wedding gift before being donated to the city in 1949.
Built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, this mansion is made from giant granite boulders, and it is listed on the National Register of History Places. In addition to incredible artwork, guests also admire the antique furnishings in each room.
It is free to enter this historic gallery that features artists from around the world, though a $5 donation is suggested. Hundreds of paintings grace these walls, giving locals a taste of fine art and a love for galleries.
This incredible place is lovely inside and out. From the unique, vintage rooms to the stone exterior, this photo-worthy castle belongs on your Instagram and Facebook pages.
In 1983, this fine art museum was moved out of the old stone castle and into downtown Fort Wayne. During this time, the castle was restored and then used as apartments until being reestablished in 1995 as the art gallery it is today. Can you imagine calling such a place home?
You can check out the wonderful art and historic rooms at this old stone castle five days a week. Stop by Tuesday through Saturday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
