Stream Cliff Farm is an amazing place with roots that go all the way back to 1821 when families were moving out west to start new lives. It wasn't until about 40 years ago that it opened as a shopping destination and restaurant.
The original owners of this place were Quakers who bought the old farm from the local Methodist Church. When Jimmy Harmon died in 1863, he left his possessions to the church. The property was later bought by the family that still owns it today.
One of the biggest draws to this wonderful and historic place is the winery. It is currently open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
Those hours change to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday after October 28, 2018.
Guests enjoy hand-crafted wines made from a variety of fruits, such as blackberries, peaches, cranberries, and apples. Dry varieties and seasonal selections are always available.
With seating for about 40 people, the winery has a cellar room where guests can dine and occasionally enjoy live music. Enjoy your meal by candlelight in this rustic setting.
This old farm also houses a restaurant called Twigs & Springs. It is situated in an old barn and features vintage decor that is rustic and simple. It's like having a picnic on a farm.
Popular dishes include cilantro-lime chicken, birdseed pasta salad, and, Stream Cliff's 1/3-pound burger. You'll also want to try the hummingbird cake, blackberry cobbler, or bread pudding.
The restaurant's current hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. After October 28, 2018, the restaurant moves into the wine cellar.
You can also shop until you drop at Stream Cliff Farm. Though not quite an antique store (more a "junktique" market), it does offer vintage crafts, decor, jewelry, and old farm tools.
The Old Barn Market is an event that takes place seasonally. The next date is October 20, 2018, when the Christmas on the Farm Old Barn Market will take place.
Booths are lined up inside and out of this old barn for the event. There will also be a huge smoker cooking up amazing pulled pork BBQ for guests to enjoy.
Stream Cliff is also home to Indiana's oldest nursery. The farm grows herbs, flowers, and many other plants, and you can even take a class to learn how to become a master gardener yourself.
The nursery and most other areas of this farm are open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Another amenity offered here is a chapel for small weddings. As the grounds of this place are already gorgeous and romantic, the owners decided to put up this structure to complete every couple's perfect day.
In addition to the restaurant, winery, and nursery, the grounds of this farm will give you plenty to do. Stroll stunning garden paths complete with benches, statues, and archways.
