The Entire Family Will Love This Short And Simple Hike In Indiana

The Trevlac Bluffs Nature Preserve is an absolutely beautiful little slice of paradise that, like many nature preserves in the Hoosier State, just doesn't get the love it deserves. This, however, can be beneficial: this means that those of us who prefer peace, quiet, and little disturbance can have it all to ourselves if we time it right. Trevlac Bluffs is home to two hiking trails, both of which are pretty easy and family-friendly. Take, for example, the Bottomland Loop Trail. It's just over one mile long and easy; it might just be the best hike near Helmsburg Indiana for those who live locally!

Trevlac Bluffs Nature Preserve is a wonderful, quiet 260 acres in Brown County perfect for anything from a quick hike to a day-long adventure.

The preserve is named after the gorgeous, unique bluff that looms 200 feet over Beanblossom Creek located within its boundaries.

The preserve protects numerous important parts of the landscape, like the gorgeous forested wetlands located in the floodplain of the creek.

The woods here serve a very special, delicate purpose: it's one of three places in the Midwest that's absolutely critical for certain species of migratory songbirds.

As a result, the hike is a blast, and you just never know what kinds of wildlife (especially of the avian variety) that you'll encounter.

Since this trail is an easy one, it makes for an excellent, family-friendly outing. Do keep in mind, though, that there is very limited parking - so carpooling is essential.

During wet times of year - such as after rain or during snowmelt - the trail can be muddy, so be prepared with good, appropriate shoes.

You'll find that, for the most part, the trail is well-marked with arrows, and although some portions are a bit overgrown, it's easy to follow.

Fans of hiking will also love to discover that the other trail within the preserve is actually a part of the Yellowwood Trail.

This wonderful hiking trail in Indiana is well worth an adventure, too, and it's longer - coming in at just under four and a half miles in length.

So come out to the Trevlac Bluffs Nature Preserve and enjoy the outdoors in silence for a while...

...best of all, you'll probably have it all to yourself. Unless, of course, you bring the kids (who will love this one).
