Tata's Pierogi in northern Illinois got its start in 2016 as a local vendor of pierogi at Chicagoland festivals and markets. Within the next year, the owners opened a brick-and-mortar store that serves lunch and dinner daily.
When was selling pierogi at festivals, the owners only made four types of these delicious dumplings. If you are unfamiliar, a pierogi is a Polish dish which consists of dough filled with cheese, potato, and sometimes other ingredients to flavor it.
Now that it has a permanent location, this pierogi restaurant can offer many more flavors of this delicious potato pocket. You'll find both modern and traditional dumplings at this hot spot.
The pierogi at this restaurant come from a recipe that has been handed down for several generations. Though some modern tweeks have been made to the flavors, you still get to enjoy the same authentic style. Each is made with 100 percent natural ingredients just like they would have been made in Poland.
Possible flavors include meat, sauerkraut, cheddar and bacon, spinach and feta, as well as chocolate and fruit varieties. There are even vegan and gluten-free options available.
