I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and I love photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world! Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream.
When springtime arrives and the weather gets warm, it’s time to head outside, enjoy the great outdoors, and attend one of the many spring festivals held throughout the state. One spring festival in Illinois that’s worthy of your bucket list is Fruehlingsfest which is held in the village of Maeystown in the southwestern part of the state.
On the first Sunday in May each year, the tiny German town of Maeystown holds a much-anticipated springtime event. Known as Fruehlingsfest, this antiques and garden show is not to be missed.
At this spring festival, you'll find antiques from dealers around the Midwest as well as nurseries selling a variety of annual and perennial plants and flowers as well as herbs.
All vendors will be placed between the old houses and buildings around town as well as along the spring-fed Maeystown Creek. The town is quite a picturesque backdrop for this spring festival.
You'll find plenty of food options available as well including bratwurst, barbecue, kettle corn, strawberry shortcake, and more. There will also be a wine garden you can sit and relax in.
Whether it's antiques or flowers you're in the market for or just want to have some good old-fashioned fun this spring, Fruehlingsfest is a festival that is worthy of your bucket list!
How would you like to attend this spring festival in Illinois this year? If you’ve attended Fruehlingsfest in the past, please tell us all about it in the comments. To learn more about Fruehlingsfest, visit the Maestown, Illinois website and Facebook page.
