When you grow up in one of the best cities in the United States, you get a little spoiled, and it ruins some things for you. What might excite residents of elsewhere, you’d hardly give a second glance because you’re just used to it.

1. We have one of the best skylines in the world
It's difficult to find beauty in other cities when you know Chicago is full of amazing views.
2. On that note, we never really have to leave the city
Everything we could possibly want is just a bus ride away. From stores to parks, protests to concerts, plays and festivals, everything we need is right here.
3. Seeing fireworks regularly is normal
While most people only see them during the Fourth of July, Chicagoans see them almost every week, thanks in part to Navy Pier
4. You're used to relying on public transit
From CTA to Metra, there are a ton of ways to get into and around the city without needing a car. Most cities are not so lucky.
5. For a city, Chicago doesn't smell that bad
Though home to 2.7 million people, Chicago doesn't smell putrid nor is it dirty. We're very good at keeping our streets clean.

And it has probably caused you to become a beer snob. You know the difference between hops and barley, and don't enjoy a beer from a brewery you haven't visited yourself.
7. You're surrounded by the best food
From world famous pizza to Italian beef, there is a lot of culturally diverse cuisine to be had in the city. It's all so delicious that it will appear in your dreams.
8. Working out doesn't require a gym
Chicago is full of trails, well-kept sidewalks, and many other foot traffic-friendly aspects not enjoyed in every town. Who needs Planet Fitness when you have the Lake Front Trail?
9. The beach is never far
Since Chicago mostly collects along Lake Michigan, there are scores of beaches up and down its coast that are ideal for a day of summer fun.
10. Distant travel is easy
Between O'Hare and Midway, you're never far from an airport. Being in the middle of the country makes it easier to go anywhere in America efficiently.
