One of the best things about Idaho is coming across a small town you never even knew existed before. The cool thing about these tiny towns is that they are all incredibly unique in their own way. They come with history, people, and stories that you won’t find anywhere else.
Food is another thing that makes a town unique. We’re all familiar with “Mom and Pop” types of restaurants. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of them exist in Idaho. But you’ll never come across one that is exactly like another. That one burger that you got in that one diner in that one small town? You’ll never get it anywhere else. That’s the magic of it! The town featured here is representative of the food you fall in love with while passing through, and just can’t help but eat again the next time you’re in the area.
Victor, Idaho is located on the very eastern edge of Idaho. It has a population of roughly 2,000 people. It's a peaceful town in the breathtaking Teton Valley.
People mainly pass through the town on their way to or from the bustling nearby city of Jackson, Wyoming. However, Victor contains a certain charm that makes it hard to leave. One of the best things about this small town? The food.
The Brakeman Grill specializes in classic American fare, and that means burgers. But these burgers aren't like anything you've seen before. They are absolutely humongous. Generously sized and made fresh to order, these things are definitely worth stopping by for! Just remember to bring your appetite. Choose from their variety of specialty burgers like the "Oregon Shortline" (quarter pound burger paired with pastrami, Swiss cheese, and horseradish sauce) or the "Crazy Brakeman" (half pound burger topped with bacon, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapenos, and Colby-Jack cheese).
Look no further for some of the best BBQ that Idaho has to offer. Big Hole BBQ does barbecue right. Try one of their many sandwiches, hickory smoked ribs, or smoked chicken for a taste of their classic barbecue dishes. They even serve BBQ tacos (served with pork, brisket, chicken, Mahi Mahi, or shrimp) if you're looking for something a little different!
Why is it called "Scratch"? Well, they boast "wicked recipes, made from scratch". If you're looking for some excellent homestyle cooking, then this is it. Scratch is famous in Victor for their one-of-a-kind breakfasts. We're talking breakfast classics like eggs benedict, breakfast burritos, pancakes, and omelettes taken to the next level. The rest of their menu is just as delicious with a variety of unique sandwiches and entrees you can't easily get anywhere else, such as "Veal Napolean" and "Chipotle Chicken Weiner Schnitzel".
Every town has to have a pizza spot, and for Victor it's Wildlife Brewing. Not only is Wildlife slinging "to die for" pizza pies, but it's also a brewery dedicated to supplying it's customers with unique and tasty beers that you can't get anywhere else. Their pizza menu keeps it simple, with classics like margherita, BBQ chicken, "herbivore" (for veggie lovers), and "carnivore" (for the meat lovers). The beauty is in the simplicity, though. Finely made pizza and handcrafted beer? It's a match made in heaven.
Spoons is an American style bistro that specializes in simple and well-known entrees (flank steak, trout, burgers, fish and chips, etc.) prepared like something you would see at a renowned restaurant in a big city. The food and service are both consistently described as top notch. Spoons is proof that small towns can still serve high quality food!
Last but not least, the Emporium is described as a place you must stop at while you're in Victor. The Emporium is a soda shop combined with a sporting goods store. You can drop by to pick up a fishing license, and at the same time pick up a world famous huckleberry milkshake that's been recognized by places like Food Network and Travel and Leisure Magazine. It doesn't get much more "Idaho" than that!
