Serving as the gateway to Oahu’s legendary north shore, the small surfing town of Haleiwa is home to countless charming boutiques and surf shops, awesome cafes, mouthwatering food trucks - and plenty of dessert places. While Matsumoto’s Shave Ice is obviously the most well-known dessert spot in this sleepy town, there’s a tiny ice shop that serves absolutely mouthwatering homemade ice cream, in tropical Hawaiian flavors, of course. This is Scoop of Paradise, and it is easily the best ice cream on the island.
Located in an unassuming strip mall surrounded by eclectic boutiques on Kamehameha Highway in Haleiwa, Scoop of Paradise is the perfect place to stop for a scoop - or two - of ice cream while exploring this picture-perfect town.
Made with real ingredients at their other shop in Waialua, Scoop of Paradise was founded in 2005, and has been serving up mouthwatering ice cream flavors for more than a decade to locals and tourists alike on Oahu’s north shore.
The speciality ice cream shop has created more than 50 unique flavors, but unfortunately can only keep so many varieties in their display case at one time.
You can choose between classic flavors like cookies and cream, mint chip, salted caramel and granny’s chocolate chip cookie...
...or try something with a Hawaiian twist, like chocolate macadamia nut, pineapple cheesecake, lavender, rose, mango, and kona coffee.
They even make their own mochi and fresh waffle cones!
This spot is a child’s dream come true: not only can you purchase scrumptious ice cream, but the walls are lined with children’s toys and fun memoribilia, and, at least every time I’ve visited, cartoons were playing on the television. They even serve coffee for the parents.
Who doesn’t love a good scoop of homemade ice cream, especially in a fresh waffle cone?
Scoop of Paradise is located on Oahu's north shore at 66-145 Kamehameha Hwy #5B in Haleiwa. Want to satisfy your sweet tooth a different way? Check out these 10 epic desserts found across the Hawaiian Islands.
