If You’re Sick, These 8 Hospitals In Hawaii Are The Best In The State
You want the best care possible when either you or a loved one are sick. No one wants to end up in the hospital, but if you do, at least you can know that you are in good hands at these eight Hawaii hospitals. Using a combination of the U.S. News and World Report Best Hospital rankings and HealthGrove’s Hospital ratings, these are the best hospitals in Hawaii.

The Queen’s Medical Center is the best hospital in Hawaii, according to the U.S. News & World Report in its annual Best Hospitals study. Queen’s was ranked as “high-performing in the categories of cancer; diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; geriatrics; neurology and neurosurgery; and orthopedics, among others.

Coming in at number two in the state of Hawaii is Kaiser Permanente, a general medical and surgical hospital with 235 beds. The hospital had excellent scores for the following procedures and conditions:chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, and hip and knee replacement.

Located in Honolulu and a partner of Hawaii Pacific Health, 81 percent of patients rated Straub as a 9 or 10 on HealthGrove, and the hospital received an 88 percent smart rating, based on a number of categories.

Another affiliate of Hawaii Pacific Health, Pali Momi is ranked #4 in Hawaii on HealthGrove, and has the first retina center in Hawaii, the state’s only team triage approach to emergency medicine, and a comprehensive women’s center.

Given a smart rating of 85 on Health Grove, Hilo Medical Center is the only hospital in Hilo, making it pretty much your only option in the area for emergency care. Sorry for the vote of confidence.

Rated better than the national average for both overall hospital experience and a weighted average of nine individual measures, Castle Medical Center is an excellent hospital for Windward Oahu residents who prefer to not travel into Honolulu.

This acute care hospital has an extremely high rate of patient satisfaction; 78 percent of patients surveyed said they would definitely recommend this facility to others.

North Hawaii Community Hospital has excellent reviews from patients, as well as death rates lower than the national average.
