Camping + Waterfalls = A match made in heaven, right? If you wholeheartedly agree, then you need to plan a visit to High Falls State Park in Jackson, Georgia. Not only is this state park known for the beautifully cascading falls on the Towaliga River, but also for some of the best camping in Georgia. Here are a few reasons why High Falls State Park should be your next weekend getaway adventure.

The history of these beautiful falls is quite a unique story, and one filled with rich Georgia history.

Back in the 1800s, the area which is now High Falls State Park was a prosperous industrial town.

There were many different stores plus a grist mill, cotton gin, blacksmith shop, shoe factory and hotel.

However, once the railroad bypassed this particular area, High Falls fell from prosperity.

Today, it remains a wonderment of nature that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

High Falls State Park has so many different activities to participate in, from swimming to bass fishing, to picnicking and grilling.

High Falls State Park offers more than 100 different campsites, not to mention six yurts and a ton of other primitive camping options.

But if that didn't convince you enough, then maybe the idea of a Twilight Canoe paddle might.

This ranger-led 3-mile canoe trip to Buck Creek allows for you to watch the setting sun, and witness the peaceful calm that the falls offers at twilight.

High Falls also offers Paws on the Falls, where guests can bring their pups for a trail walk and mingling with other four-legged friends.

But really, the waterfalls may just be the best part about this entire place.
