Here in Georgia, we're famous for our Southern food... it's our cuisine, and from collard greens to chicken and waffles, it's so comforting and reminds you of home no matter where you are. If you're looking for delicious Southern food in Georgia, it doesn't get much better than 2 Chefs Gullah Geechee in Savannah. This tiny soul food spot doesn't get nearly as much attention as some of the more famous restaurants in the Hostess City, but trust us: it's definitely worth a visit.
This place is easy to miss - it's not all that big, and there's so much to see in Savannah that it can be easy to walk right by.
It's hard to believe a tiny restaurant like this could pack so much flavor and soul into the food!
The Gullah region is the lowcountry coastal area from South Carolina down to Florida. Gullah Geechee food is similar to what slaves in this area would have cooked.
Breakfast here is great, and you certainly won't leave hungry.
You can also pick up wonderful brunch dishes - chicken and waffles, anyone?
2 Chefs Gullah Geechee is open for lunch and dinner as well.
Many diners feel that the sides are so good you don't even need meat, but the seafood and pork chops are among the most popular options.
The cinnamon rolls sell out quick, so if you happen to catch them when they're fresh, definitely get one (or two, we won't tell).
