The Clearest Lake In Georgia, Lake Allatoona, Is Almost Too Beautiful To Be Real
There’s a lot of water in Georgia. We have many lakes, rivers, and even waterfalls within our borders. Many of our bodies of water are major recreational attractions: they serve as the site for fun in the sun like fishing, boating, swimming, and tubing. One of the largest lakes in Georgia just so happens to also be among the prettiest. Lake Allatoona, up in the northern part of the state near Atlanta, spans over 12,000 acres and has nearly 300 miles of shoreline to explore. It’s also got pristine water that provides drinking water for many of the surrounding counties.
Lake Allatoona is a huge lake that offers many areas for recreation. Red Top Mountain State Park lies along its shores and is one of the best state parks in Georgia.
There are many marinas along the lake's shores, and you can also find plenty of campgrounds to choose from if you'd like to turn your stay into a multi-day adventure.
