Editor's Note: Since the originally publication of this article, Door County Bakery has closed its restaurant and moved to an order-based business model. Give them a call to get your fresh-baked goods fix!
There’s nothing quite like the fresh-baked bread at Door County Bakery. More specifically, there’s nothing quite like the bakery’s Corsica Bread. And we mean that literally. The unique bread is a Door County original. In fact, this bakery is the only place you can get a Corsica Loaf in Wisconsin! But while it may be the bread that brings patrons in, it’s just the beginning of what this hometown bakeshop has to offer. Take a look:
Door County Bakery is located in Sister Bay. And unlike many other businesses in the area, it’s open year-round.
But don’t let the name fool you. It’s much more than a bakery; it’s also a restaurant, cappuccino bar, and wine cellar.
Though the one-stop-shop has a ton to offer, it’s probably most widely known for its Corsica Loaf.
The one-of-a-kind bread is slathered with sesame seeds and olive oil before being baked in a stone oven.
The end result is a tasty, crispy crust like no other.
In addition to its famous Corsica Loaf...
...the bakery whips up a variety of other European-style breads and pastries - all of which are made fresh daily.
What’s more, all the baked goods are made using in-house original recipes, many of which are legally trademarked by the bakery.
The tastebud-tantalizing fare doesn’t end with the display case stocked with fresh-baked goodness, though.
In addition to a delicatessen filled with choice meats, seafood, and specialty items, there’s an on-site eatery, which serves breakfast and lunch.
With a wine cellar, the beverage selection is just as enticing and includes some of the finest wines from around the world.
