Pancakes and eggs seem so simple to make, but because they are so basic, not all places do it well. In fact, finding a good breakfast place these days can be pretty challenging. Here are some of the very best breakfast places in Wisconsin.
1. Mint Cafe
This retro joint, located in Wausau, features paneling and booths. But it's nostalgic, not tired. It's quaint and definitely busting at the seams with locals. Prices are good and they serve real maple syrup!
2. Delta Diner
Up in Delta, the Delta Diner is a classic diner in Wisconsin's Northwoods. While the menu is not huge, the portions are generous and everything is delicious.
3. The Comet Cafe
The Comet Cafe is a hip diner located in Milwaukee that is awesome for brunch or breakfast, no matter what you're feeling. It's comfort food--from scratch--just look at this huge place of food. They have a lot of things covered in bacon, but surprisingly really good vegetarian options too.
4. Marigold Kitchen
Marigold Kitchen has really been growing in popularity, voted the best breakfast place in Madison in 2015. It's actually been around since 2001, and it has a great location, right off of capital square. The food is fresh and is truly farm to table.
5. Pancake Cafe
The Pancake Cafe in Fichtburg has been voted one of the best breakfast places in Madison as well. While it has only been around since the 1990s, a lot of the recipes have been around for over 100 years. You will love their freshly prepared meats, maple syrup and juice.
6. Franks Diner
In Kenosha, Franks Diner is an absolute mainstay. It has been in business for more than 80 years. Their large portions of great food and sassy service have gotten them featured on numerous television shows and food magazines.
7. The Wooden Chair
So, spoiler alert--this place has a bunch of wooden chairs. But also, they have some pretty great food. Located in Stevens Point, The Wooden Chair does breakfast and brunch with a twist. Featured here, for example, is butternut squash eggs benedict.
8. Oshkosh Bistro
Obviously located in Oshkosh, this restaurant served home cooked breakfast...all day! The food is fresh, and many more items are organic. There is a German flair to the restaurant, represented in some dishes.
9. Leif's Cafe
Up in Eagle River, the very best place to get a great breakfast is at Leif's Cafe. This place is always jammed, but is well worth the wait, due to its delicious food and very friendly waitstaff.
