Some Of The Nation’s Best Pizza Comes From Zaffiro’s, A Decades-Old Wisconsin Eatery
Zaffiro’s Pizza in Milwaukee is a renowned family-owned eatery famous for its thin-crust pizzas and authentic Italian dishes.
Last fall, The Daily Meal created a list of the 101 best pizzas in America. And not surprisingly, Wisconsin’s very own, Zaffiro’s, made the cut. In business for decades, the longstanding eatery is basically a Wisconsin icon at this point and completely worthy of its ranking. Read on to learn more about this landmark eatery and its famously delicious pizza.
Zaffiro’s Pizza is located in Milwaukee. The tiny eatery on Farewell Avenue has a BIG reputation for its thin-crust pizzas, pasta, and other Italian dishes.
Running the restaurant has been a family affair for generations of Zaffiros since opening back in 1954.
The eatery has seen several changes over the years, including the addition of a dining room and bar.
However, a few things have stayed the same, like the thin-crust pizza Zaffiro’s is known for.
Practically a favorite right from the start, the specialty pizza is the creation of co-founder Bobby Zaffiro, who was a first-generation Italian-American with Sicilian roots.
All together, there are 12 thin-crust pizzas to choose from. The typical topping options include all the classics, such as cheese and meat lovers.
There are two options that’ll seem unfamiliar (at least at first) - and they are: EBF and E.
EBF is simply “everything but fish,” which in this case is anchovies.” E means “everything.” Either of which is a great choice for first-timers since it’ll really give you a taste of what Zaffiro’s is all about.
The signature pies may be what made the restaurant famous, but it’s not all you’ll find on the menu.
Hearty salads, sandwiches, and seafood fill the menu.
Pastas also make up a portion of the offering. And since the sauce is made using an old family recipe, you (and your taste buds) are sure to be pleased.
Between the authentic pies and neighborhood vibes, Zaffiro's Pizza is definitely a slice above the rest!
Zaffiro’s Pizza is open Sunday – Thursday, from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Friday – Saturday, from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. For more information, call (414) 289-8776. You can also visit the Zaffiro’s Pizza website or Facebook page.
