If you've ever had food served by street vendors in Mexico, you know how addictive and delicious that casual cuisine is. From tacos and tamales to fresh fruit and sweet treats, those small Mexican markets serve the best antojitos -- which literally means "snacks" or "the cravings" -- on the planet. Recently, a new snack shop opened in Renton that serves scrumptious antojitos and other Latin-inspired cuisine. And once you try it, you'll be advocating for one of these on every street corner.
Jazzy's Antojitos & Gelatinas opened in May of 2021 in this little space on NE Sunset Blvd. in Renton.
Longtime business partners and friends Jazmin Becerra and Joselyn Chavez opened the spot together, combining their talents. Joselyn was born in Los Angeles to immigrant parents from El Salvador. Jazmin and her family came from Mexico, and both women appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of their parents that helped them get here today.
Inside the small snack shop, you'll find bold colors, a welcoming atmosphere, and a giant menu of tasty treats.
The space was used as a snack shop before they took over, but they definitely added their own unique touches.
They also added plenty of personal touches and special flavors to the menu.
And you'll find both sweet and savory delights on the menu.
Jazmin got her start in antojitos by making and selling her popular gelatinas, which people often think is ice cream -- but it's a gelatin-based snack.
She has since mastered the art of the mangonada (pictured here), which is a frozen mango treat with an infusion of bold flavors.
Bionico is essentially a fruit salad in dessert form, and it's delightful.
Cube-shaped fruit is topped with cream, granola, coconut, and sometimes honey, which is the best idea ever.
Many of the antojitos and gelatinas are available in a grab-and-go case, although some do have to be custom made.
And if you're craving something savory instead of sweet, we highly recommend the corn in the cup, which combines chips, hot corn, and lime.
Jazzy's is currently open Tuesday - Thursday from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., Friday from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday from noon - 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon - 8 p.m.
Check this place out the next time you find yourself in the area. The snacks are edible works of art.
