Southern Virginia’s Donut Trail Is Everything You’ve Dreamed Of And More

As the saying goes, the sweetest things in life aren't generally things at all. Unless, of course, you're talking about donuts.

Just last week, we published a donut trail highlighting some of the state's most popular bakeries. Fortunately, there were so many enthusiastic responses about additional spots to find this delicious treat that we've been able to craft a second donut trail. So hop in your car and bring your appetite, because we've got your southern Virginia donut trail all mapped out:

1. Glazed Doughnuts (Hampton)

For just about a year, Glazed Donuts has been serving the Hampton community with some of the finest donuts in town. Whether you're looking for something sweet to pair with your morning cup of coffee or are hoping to grab a dozen and hit the road, you won't be disappointed with the options here. 2. O'Doodle Doo's Donuts (Suffolk)

If you're looking for some truly unique donut flavors, be sure to stop by O'Doodle Doo's in Suffolk. With options such as pineapple crumble, bacon blueberry, and chocolate banana, you're in for an adventure of flavors. 3. Country Style Donuts (Richmond)

Don't be fooled by the modest exterior of this hidden gem in Richmond; Country Style Donuts is a must-visit for any donut lover. 4. Mama Crockett's Cider Donuts (Lynchburg)

The traditional apple cider donut has never tasted better. Mama Crockett's donut food truck is something of a legend in the Lynchburg area. The homemade donuts are cooked right there on site and include authentic apple cider. These may not have the colorful, whimsical appearance of some of the other donuts on this list but there is no lack of flavor. 5. Carol Lee Donuts (Blacksburg)

This award-winning donut shop has a special place in the hearts of anyone who's spent time in Blacksburg. 6. Route 8 Donuts (Christiansburg)

This relatively new donut shop is just a stone's throw away from Carol Lee Donuts, a lucky coincidence seeing as this spot is worth a drive in its own rite. It's here you'll find a delicious twist on some of the classics, including all-chocolate donuts, lemon-filled donuts, french toast donuts, and many more. 7. Blackbird Bakery (Bristol)

Last but not least, we've arrived at the end of our southern donut tour at Blackbird Bakery. In addition to other homemade goodies, this spot is renowned for the donuts. You'll be able to choose from decadent creme-filled donuts to more traditional treats. There's really no wrong choice at this fine establishment.
