This Charming Utah Restaurant Serves The Best Southern Food West Of The Rockies

When you think of the South, you probably think of fried chicken and other comfort food, and maybe of sitting on a front porch with a tall, cold glass of iced tea. Well, Utah is a long way from the South, but there's a charming little restaurant here in South Jordan that offers some of the best Southern food that you'll find west of the Rockies.

The Porch Restaurant is located in SoDa Row at Daybreak. The address is 11274 Kestrel Rise Rd., South Jordan, UT 84009.

The dining room is an eclectic mix of modern decor, Southern charm and vintage style.

Start with some down-home skillet cornbread, slathered in butter and served alongside tomato Tobasco jam.

The menu is full of gourmet, Southern-style food, like this beer-battered catfish with Cajun tartar sauce and quick pickles.

The Porch takes standard comfort food and gives it a unique twist. For instance, this buttermilk fried chicken is served with buttermilk whipped potatoes and cider-braised greens, but it's definitely more gourmet than you'll find in a tiny Southern diner - and much tastier!

The crawfish mac & cheese is a house specialty, and it's served with bacon butter crumble and pickled apple slaw.

For a modern take on a traditional Southern favorite, you've got to have the banana puddin' jar for dessert.

For Saturday and Sunday brunch, try a Johnny cake. This delicious pancake-type cake is made in a cast-iron skillet. Get yours banana-filled and banana topped, served with candied pecans.

Visit The Porch seven days a week. They serve dinner Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and dinner afterwards.
