3) Chubby’s Cafe, Pleasant Grove

Chubby’s serves hand-pressed ⅓ pound burgers with a host of toppings. Try the jalapeno ranch with beef patty, ham, bacon, Swiss cheese, pepper-jack cheese, American cheese, jalapeno ranch dressing, jalapenos, lettuce, tomato and onion. The buns are made in a local bakery and delivered daily.

4) Cotton Bottom Inn, Salt Lake City

Cotton Bottom is a tiny burger joint and local watering hole, tucked away in Holladay. It’s been a favorite of locals for years, but it doesn’t advertise much, so it takes newbies awhile to figure it out. The menu has a choice of five burgers, but you’re crazy if you don’t get the garlic burger or garlic cheeseburger. Make your significant other get one too -- you’re going to reek later, but it’s totally worth it. Cotton Bottom is a bar, so patrons must be 21 and older.

Family owned and operated, Crown Burger opened in 1978 and immediately became a Utah favorite. You’ll find over 100 menu items, including some delicious Greek food such as gyros and souvlakia with tzatziki sauce. But by far, the most popular item is the Crown Burger: a flame-broiled beef patty, piled high with tender pastrami, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese and thousand island dressing (slightly different than Crown Burger’s delicious fry sauce).

6) Hi Mountain, Kamas

The 2015 Best in State winner of Best Burger in Utah, Hi Mountain has been serving up tasty burgers since 1968. Try the Southern Belle, featuring two kinds of cheese and topped with fried pickle spears.

After a long day hiking or biking on the slickrock, stop and eat at Milt’s. Get your burger in either cow or buffalo varieties and eat it on the patio or sit up at the formica countertop, circa 1954. Milt’s uses hormone-free, grass-fed beef and locally grown vegetables whenever possible.
