Did you know there are underground restaurants in Texas? From Dakota's Steakhouse to the Rathskeller, the Lone Star State has more subterranean dining options than most people realize. Another great spot is Flip 'n Patties, a Filipino restaurant located in Houston's vast underground tunnel system. This unique restaurant fuses traditional Filipino cuisine with new-school flavors (just wait until you see the epic burger toppings!), and each bite will send your taste buds further into a state of pure bliss.

Downtown Houston's underground tunnel system is the largest in North America, spanning nearly 100 city blocks.
Within this labyrinth of meandering corridors lies a plethora of restaurants to feed hungry 9-to-5 workers, and Flip 'n Patties is one of them.
This hip, funky Filipino spot brings the delicious flavors of the Philippines to Texas with an extensive menu of traditional eats.
You'll see everything from burgers to rice plates to loaded fries to desserts, and everything is worth trying.
When it comes to appetizers, you can't go wrong with the "Fliprolls," which are classic Filipino pork eggrolls, or lumpia.
Other selections include steamed buns, fried pork rinds, pork belly bites, and more.
I definitely suggest ordering at least one burger - after all, the restaurant does have the word "patties" in its name!
All of the burgers are made with top-quality Akaushi beef and feature incredibly unique toppings.
Whether you want a fried egg and banana ketchup or a fried, cheese-stuffed mushroom on your burger, the sky is the limit here.
You can also opt to build your own burger and customize it to your exact preference.
Other menu items include garlic rice plates, fries, fried chicken, salads, tacos, sandwiches, and delicacies such as Sisig.
There is also a kid's menu as well as several vegetarian and vegan options, including a mushroom burger and mushroom tacos.
Whatever you do, please don't skip dessert (seriously, I'm begging you).
I definitely recommend going with the halo-halo, which is a traditional Filipino dessert made from crushed ice, evaporated or coconut milk, and various toppings/sides such as fruit preserves, sweetened kidney or garbanzo beans, and flan. It's topped with a scoop of ube ice cream and is guaranteed to make your taste buds sing. The ice cream burger is a close second in my book.
Flip 'n Patties also has a surface-level restaurant on Eldridge Parkway. You can also place an online order via Grubhub. Visit the Flip 'n Patties website or the Flip 'n Patties Facebook page for more information.
