One of the most iconic BBQ joints in Texas, Southside Market & Barbeque has been a Hill Country fixture since 1882. After getting its start in Elgin, the eatery has since expanded into Bastrop, Hutto, and Arbor Walk.

Step inside any of the locations, and the first thing you'll notice is the rustic - yet still undeniably charming - atmosphere. Don't forget to check out the historic photos on the walls that showcase the restaurant's humble beginnings!

The menu features nearly a dozen different meats, all slow-smoked in traditional Central Texas style. From brisket to baby back ribs, the options are plentiful.

While everything at Southside Market is worth trying, today, we're focusing on their sausage. It comes in two varieties: original beef and jalapeno cheddar, and both are absolutely delectable.

Either enjoy your sausage as part of a BBQ plate, or get it on a sandwich (our personal favorite.) Your choice of sausage is piled onto a perfectly toasted bun with all the fixings. Delicious!

Traditional sausage sandwiches cost $8.50, but for just $3.50 more, you can make it a combo.

Combo sandwiches boast equal parts sausage and beef brisket, making for a truly taste bud-tantalizing mouthful.

If you prefer to keep things simple, opt for a sausage wrap. It's exactly what it looks like: a sausage link on one piece of bread, meant to be folded up and enjoyed as is. It isn't fancy, but it sure is tasty.

Other ways to enjoy the sausage at Southside include on a loaded baked potato or in a "Ranch Hand" bowl with beans, cheese, onions, and corn chips.

Visit the restaurant's website or Facebook page for more information, such as hours and a full menu.
